Too many weekend golfers ignore what seems to them to be a forgotten part of the game: Taking care of their golf clubs.

Dirty Clubs Can Impact Your Score

As often as not they keep their clubs at home and they find it quite easy not to clean them. But this costs strokes. If the grooves of the iron are not clean the clubhead will not put maximum backspin on the ball.

Always Carry A Towel

During every round you should have a towel available so that the clubface can be cleaned after each shot. You should also clean the grooves by running a sharp object through them before every shot.

How To Keep Your Woods In Top Shape

Caring for woods presents a different problem. The best product for cleaning your woods is WD-40 it will give the top of your clubs a real shine.

If you want your clubs to take care of you, you have to take care of your clubs. You'll save quite a bit of money in the long run, too so use wood covers to stop your clubs banging together in your golf bag. If you want to use headcovers for your irons, too, iron covers are easy to find at golf shops.Golf Course

And don't forget a headcover for your putter. A ding on the putter surface can really affect your ability to get a good roll off your putter face.

After Your Round Take These Steps

1. Use warm, soapy water and a soft brush to clean clubfaces.

2. Towel-dry the clubface and shaft immediately after cleaning.

3. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the grips however if they are very dirty again use soapy water and a brush to scrub them.

4. Inspect the grips for shiny areas, worn areas or cracks. Good grips are essential to good golf.

5. Inspect the shafts for dents, nicks or splits. If you see any of these, it might be time to replace the shaft.

Finally never use an abrasive cleaning agent or a wiry brush on your clubs.Master Golf
